SEP (Part C/Part D) — Medicaid / Extra Help
What it is: A Special Enrollment Period that may let you change plans if you gain or lose Medicaid and/or Extra Help, or if your level of assistance changes.
Who it’s for: People whose Medicaid or Extra Help status changes.
When it happens: Varies, and it can be more flexible than standard windows in many cases.
What you can do:
Join, switch, or drop Medicare Advantage and/or Part D coverage as allowed by the SEP rules.
Move into plan types designed for certain eligibility groups (when available).
Big watch-out: Rules can be different depending on your exact eligibility status. If you qualify for Medicaid and Medicare, it may be worth checking whether a D-SNP is available and whether it matches your doctors and prescriptions.
Note:
Allowed changes and frequency depend on your eligibility status and current rules.
